Any fan with two cables has something to do with that. Depending on the fan motor type, one ends with either 3 holes or 4. This is for the fan’s motor. There is a separate cable that ends on either a 4-pin or 3-pin connection.

Do LED fans have 2 cables?
The fans have wires on them. A wire needs to be connected to a fan board.
