Donations of usable building materials, gently used furniture, working appliances, tools, lighting and other household goods can be found at the ReStore.
What items does restore not accept?
We don’t accept box springs, mats, or other furniture. There are stained and leaded windows.
Does anyone take old light fixtures?
It is possible to recycle light fixture through various community organizations. Many community organizations use donated light fixture when they rehabilitate low-income homes because of the high demand for working light fixture in Salvage shops.
Does the ReStore pickup?
Good items should not be sent to the landfill. They can be donated to the Habitat ReStore. If you don’t know if something will be accepted, call ahead and someone will help you out. Pick up is offered by many ReStores.
Can you haggle at ReStore?
It is not possible to say no. We don’t negotiate prices with customers. If items that have been on the shelves for a period of time are discounted by the ReStore staff, please remember that the proceeds from the store go to Habitat for Humanity and this is not a flea market.
What items should not be donated?
Do charity shops Wash clothes before selling?
I sometimes get asked if clothes donated to charity shops are washed before they are put up for sale. I can’t speak for every charity shop but I can say that the steamers used in them are amazing.
Can you throw clothes in the garbage?
Clothes and fabric should never be thrown in the garbage. Friends, charities, and thrift stores are good places to give unwanted clothing. Don’t give wet or moldy items to charity. They will end up in a landfill if they don’t clean them.
Is it better to donate to Goodwill or Salvation Army?
Goodwill is a not for profit organization, while Salvation Army is a charity. The Salvation Army is the best organization to give money to. The clothing, money, and goods that are donated to the Salvation Army do not go to the needy.
Can I donate my heart while still alive?
The heart needs to be donated by a brain-dead person. The donor heart must be in normal condition with no disease and must be matched as closely as possible to your blood and/or tissue type to reduce the chance that your body will reject it.
Does goodwill wash clothes?
Goodwill doesn’t prepare items for sale. They don’t wash clothes, wipe off dirt, or put parts in that need to be put in. If you are going to give material goods, you should prepare them.
Does goodwill wash clothing before selling?
Goodwill tends to sort their items. Clothes can be sorted by hand. They send items that are torn or dirty to the distribution center. Do you know where a goodwill is located?
Can you take dirty clothes to Goodwill?
Most cities have handy bins that you can donate dirty clothes in. Goodwill and the Salvation Army don’t wash their clothing. Any clothing that is wet or dirty will be thrown away.
What days do Goodwill restock?
Every day we have new products in the stores. At the golden hour, when the store opens, the most new stuff that no other customers have seen is available. A Monday morning shopping trip is almost guaranteed because our employees have to replenish a lot of the store.
Do I need to wash my clothes before donating them?
Unless they have been cleaned, bedding, towels, and clothes should not be donated. If you want to donate, dry clean or wash everything. Animals can always use sheets and towels that have been washed and donated.
